In our Judges’ Selection Box you will discover NZ’s newest small breweries and beer not available in stores. You can learn about the brewers and rate their beer with the 8-page tasting guide included in every box. New Zealand breweries brew some of the best beer in the world. But many beer-drinkers don’t know which craft beers will taste best. We do. Craft Box Direct brings together some of the best independent NZ craft brewers into one carefully curated range of well-made, balanced, drinkable craft beers. In our monthly selection we also include one or two more challenging beers to open your horizons.

Introducing John and Andrew

We are good mates who met through home-brewing and share a love of great beer. We tasted such a range of great Kiwi beers on our BJCP beer judging course and realised we could create a better, fresher, Kiwi beer subscription to get the best beers in NZ out to the nation. We work with NZ Craft Breweries select their best beer for our monthly Judges’ Selection. Freshness is key so we take orders a month in advance, get the brewers to brew then send to us to pack and courier to our customers so it is tasting at its best.

Our criteria for selecting the beers is simple. Is it a really good beer? Do I want another one? But of course, it is not that simple. We select beers from the best independent breweries. Beers are judged by BJCP certified beer judges to our specific criteria: Well-made, balanced and drinkable beer. We have rejected more than we have chosen. We want to make sure the beers are medal-standard, so you will love them, and keep coming back for more. Each monthly selection box is a different mix of popular but interesting styles.
